Boston Whaler to Sponsor 14th Annual “Bucket Full ‘O’ Fun Tournament”

Edgewater, Fla. (March 31, 2010) – Boston Whaler, known for more than half a century as “The Unsinkable Legend,” will help sponsor the 14th annual Bucket Full “O” Fun fishing tournament held near Daytona, Fla, on April 24, with proceeds benefitting the Halifax Health-Hospice of Volusia/Flagler’s Family Caregiver Program.

“Boston Whaler is honored to support this long-running fishing tournament that takes place in the very region where we build our boats,” said Ben Cast, vice president of sales, marketing and customer service at Boston Whaler. “It’s nice to see people come together for a fun-filled day on the water—and all for a good cause.”

The Bucket Full “O” Fun Tournament, put on by The Flagler County Sportfishing Club, is a combined-weight tournament. Participants can enter trout, flounder, drum fish or redfish at the weigh-in. The fee is $45 per adult angler, and $10 per junior angler.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Halifax Health Hospice’s Family Caregiver Program. This program supports family caregivers by providing them relief and respite while they care for and support their loved one through the end-of-life journey. This is the fourth year Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler has been chosen as the tournament’s charity. Bright House Networks is co-sponsoring the event with Boston Whaler.

“We are proud that such a distinguished group has chosen our organization for their fundraising efforts,” said Johnnie Luisa Carrow-Nelson, marketing and event coordinator for Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler. “It is clear that their hearts lie in taking care of the community in which they live.”

Tournament winners will receive cash prizes: $1,200 for a first-place weight, $800 for second place, $600 for third place, $400 for fourth place and $200 for fifth place. Top junior anglers will receive trophies. In addition, the event includes a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction with wildlife art originals and prints from local artists.

The tournament will be held near Daytona Beach, with check-out points at Hershel King Park, High Bridge, Bing’s Landing, under 100 Bridge or at Devil’s Elbow. The weigh-in will be held at Herschel King Park.
