Boston Whaler Prepares to Launch the Innovative 345 Conquest Open
Edgewater, Fla. (June 30, 2010) Building on the incredible success of its 345 Conquest, The Unsinkable Legend, will debut the 345 Conquest Open, an offshore fishing machine and cabin cruiser with an open cockpit design in Boston Whalers model year 2011 lineup. And by installing the all-new optional marlin tower on the hardtop (also available for the closed bridge model), hardcore anglers gain an undeniable advantage over sportfish.
The Opens cockpit maintains the same beefy windshield frame system as the Conquest, but the Open incorporates traditionally styled low-profile windshield wings on the sides and a rotating center vent in the front. The vent will now be featured on the enclosed version, as well. We wanted to provide a boat for customers who prefer a more open air feel, said Ron Berman, Boston Whalers vice president of product development and engineering.
If the weather turns, the versatile Open also includes cockpit A/C and a full weather curtain enclosure. Without wrinkles or fogging, state-of-the-art Makrolon® polycarbonate material protects boaters from the elements, while maintaining a crystal-clear view.
The optional marlin tower upper control station with buggy top includes a Mercury SmartCraft vessel view display. An optional Raymarine electronics systemfeaturing the new E9 Widescreen, which displays the SmartCraft datais available. Anglers will also appreciate the option to mount 23-foot lift-out outriggers to the tower for trolling. The tower and outriggers can also be added to the closed bridge Conquest model. The upper station will appeal to serious offshore fisherman, Berman said. Customers can personalize the boat to suit their needs. The tower provides a better perspective for seeing whats on the surface of the water and for keeping an eye on trolling lines behind the boat.
Whaler will expand on the 345 Opens enhancements with its model-year 2011 vessels. Notable changes include redesigned cabin steps for improved entry, additional galley cabinet storage with optional Boston Whaler dinnerware set, an option to convert the portside cooler into a tackle storage cabinet, new white and blue cockpit lighting, optional underwater lighting, optional black hull graphics and a larger full-deck sunpad. All of these enhancements will apply to both the Open and enclosed Conquest models. Many of these additions were driven by requests and feedback by current owners on how to improve the model, Berman said. For example, the optional tackle center was inspired by customers who had modified their own boats to do this.
Engineered with regard to first-hand customer experiences, the 345 Conquest Open is a no-nonsense fishing machine that maintains the ruggedness and brawn of its closed-bridge kin while introducing a fresh, open-air option to the Boston Whaler line. For more information, visit www.whaler.com.
