Yami Hu is an MBA graduate of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She joined Brunswick Corporation as part of its Leadership Development Program (LDP). The LDP is a two-year executive management program designed to provide an exciting entry point for MBA graduates into general management. The program gives exposure to different Brunswick divisions via various strategic projects, which allows the LDP candidate to work side-by-side with executive leadership.
Yami joined Boston Whaler in 2016 as the Manager of Strategy and Business Development. She explains, “I have a passion for manufacturing after working in the mining and machinery industry, and I enjoy being close to where the products are made. Plus, who doesn’t love living in Florida?” Yami’s current role is Director of Strategic Planning, where she establishes strategic growth priorities and enables operating improvements for the business. She has worked on pricing, online distribution, merger & acquisition, and customer and product research.
Yami’s favorite activities outside of work include exercising and participating in the Brunswick Wellness Program, Be Your Best. She recently won first place in the SE Volusia Chamber 5K Challenge in the female category for her age group (she also won first place in 2018). She likes events where she competes with herself. Yami comments, “The faster I get at running, the heavier weights I can lift and the further I can push my body, allowing me to better tackle other challenges outside of my workouts.” As part of the 5K, she earned points in Be Your Best, which reduces her health care costs. She advises, “It doesn’t matter where you are in your fitness journey as long as you continue to put in the work.”
