Edgewater, Fla. (May 24, 2017) -
Boston Whaler has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious Florida Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence Awards. Whaler is among 28 manufacturing companies in the running for the award, a list that also includes Johnson & Johnson Vision, Inc., located in Jacksonville, and Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Ocala. The finalists were announced on May 10 by the Florida Sterling Council and FloridaMakes.
“It’s an honor to be named a finalist for this award, and we’re grateful to receive the recognition,” said Boston Whaler President Nick Stickler. “I would like to extend my appreciation to every member of our talented team. Their dedication, ingenuity and hard work, day in and day out, are what make the success of our company possible. Boston Whaler is able to manufacture the finest-quality boats on the water because we have the finest marine team in the world.”
The Florida Sterling Council and FloridaMakes collaborated on this statewide awards program to recognize the state’s high-performing manufacturers. Companies were judged on six criteria: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce and operations. Florida Sterling-trained examiners and representatives knowledgeable of manufacturing contributed their time and expertise to evaluate nominations, including site visits and management interviews for semi-finalists.
FloridaMakes will feature Boston Whaler and the other finalists in upcoming plant tours, webinars and events to help share best practices that can benefit Florida’s manufacturing sector. Award winners, chosen from the finalists, will be announced on June 2 during the 2017 Governor’s Sterling Awards Banquet in Orlando.
