The 420 Outrage Anniversary Edition marks a key milestone in the Outrage family progression, featuring the world's first V12 outboard engines and additional features unique to this special edition model.

- Revolutionary Propulsion: Triple 600-hp V12 Mercury Verados will deliver breathtaking performance, effortless handling and unmatched fuel efficiency.
- Upgraded Exterior Upholstery: Sea Gray – The 420’s upholstery has been updated with a more modern, sculptural style that includes textured ridges and stitching.
- Upgraded Interior Upholstery & Finishings: New – upholstery colors, countertops and flooring choices are also available for the cockpit, galley and cabin.
- Teak Accent Package: Helm deck accents, second row seating footrest, second row seating, bow cupholder accents, under cover rod storage with shelf, toe rail and downriggers ball holder.
- Black Hardtop Frame Package: An elegant choice that lends the boat a sleeker profile. This includes frame, port and starboard helm deck grab rail, and overhead storage (underneath the hardtop).
- Painted Engines: The ultimate in customization. Engines are now color-coordinated with the boat's hull side paint selection.
- Painted Hardtop Bottom: Color will match hull side paint selection.

The new 420 Anniversary Edition is the culmination of five decades of Outrage innovation: 1971 - 2021.
1971
First Outrage Debuts
Boston Whaler introduces the first-ever Outrage, a 21’4” model designed to satisfy “the frequently expressed wish of fans and sport fishing enthusiasts for a bigger, roomier ‘Whaler Quality’ boat” with the safety and stability for fishing, diving, skiing and cruising.
1971
#001 in Action
The first Outrage off the production line, Hull #001, is sold to the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, following the lab’s correspondence with Whaler Founder Dick Fisher. The boat remains in active use for the next 50+ years.
1973
19 Feet of Pure Capability
The Outrage 19 joins the lineup, with a trailerable 19’4” length and an array of features for fresh- or saltwater fishing and watersports. Popular options include a 155-quart insulated cooler seat and a reversible pilot seat ideal for trolling or observing skiers.
1980s
The Outrage Family Grows
New Outrages including the Outrage 22, Outrage 25 and Outrage Cuddy are introduced. Each center console model delivers loads of fish-fighting room, confident offshore performance and a smooth-riding deep-V hull.
1996
Backed by Brunswick
Boston Whaler is acquired by parent company Brunswick Corporation for $26.6 million. Over the ensuing decades, the company’s backing will help fuel growth and make new innovations possible — including bigger and bolder Outrages.
2010
And the Award Goes To...
The new 370 Outrage, Whaler’s largest model to date, is selected as an NMMA Innovation Award winner in the Cruisers category and named 2010 European Powerboat of the Year.
2011
Truly Unsinkable
Whaler puts its legendary unsinkability to the test once more, filling a 370 Outrage beyond capacity with life-jacketed employees. As photo evidence proves, even when swamped, the boat won’t sink.
2014
The Flagship 420 Outrage
Boston Whaler unveils the flagship 420 Outrage, a highly capable offshore performer and a brilliant entertaining platform featuring innovations including Mercury® Joystick Piloting and Dynamic Running Surface hull technology.
2015
Praise from the Industry
Shortly after its debut, the 420 Outrage is named Boating magazine’s 2015 Boat of the Year. According to the magazine’s editors, “The 420 Outrage led the field with respect to delivering a boat that could be fished, cruised and day-boated with equal aplomb.”
2021
A Legacy Evolved
